AUSTIN, TX, June 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ — Austin Community College announced it had purchased property at Highway 183A and C.R. 269 in Leander Might 13. Leander Realtor Rocky Breon says a campus in Leander will contribute to the city’s growth.
“Although ACC has not released their plans for the property, I see this as a positive sign that Leander and its surrounding communities are growing and is going to be offering a lot more educational alternatives to their citizens inside the future,” says Breon.
The property is located near the new MetroRail Red Line, the last stop on the line that runs to downtown Austin.
“The location of ACC’s property is ideal for students commuting to and from Austin,” says Breon. “This move to secure property in Leander by ACC is just one more indication that the location is becoming a much better location for its citizens to live, work and play.”
Leander is in ACC’s taxing district and is at the moment served by the Cypress Creek Campus and Leander High School. ACC has seven campuses about the Austin region and far more than 41,000 credit students enrolled inside the spring 2010 semester. On Could 18, ACC announced it had entered into a contract to acquire 98 acres within the city of Elgin.

The ACC District consists of the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, and Round Rock school districts, and also the city of Austin. Hays ISD, Bastrop ISD, Elgin ISD, McDade ISD and San Marcos CISD are all thinking about joining the district.
